The book “Marriage Is Under Fire – Don’t Stop Firing Back” provides insights about getting into and staying in your marriage, which is intended to be a divine relationship between a man and a woman. In this book, Joan drew her knowledge from her experience in marriage, as well as insights from her educational and professional work.
These words are live from the mouth of Joan M. James regarding how this book came into being. “I got the inspiration to write this book early one morning in the year 2009, while in the midst of a major battle in my life.” “At the first instance, I raised the question of “how can I write on such a subject matter, while being engaged in such a battle?” “However, God had a plan for me to reach the finishing line, says Joan.”

Joan stepped out in faith and in obedience, despite the psycho-social issues and life-threatening medical diagnosis, which were disheartening, to say the least. She feared no evil, despite journeying through the “Valley of the Shadow of death,” as stated by the Psalmist David. This book was completed in the latter part of 2013, with God’s supernational enablement.

The publication offers practical and spiritual guidelines to help readers win the fight for marriage, that was established by God’s design. Joan is a woman of faith who is passionate about the preservation of the sanctity of marriage and the reversal of the moral decay in our society today.

The writing of inspiring self-help articles is part of her passion, and she has also written a professional instructional manual for corporate use. Joan has worked as a Civil Servant for over fifteen years (15), at the time of the completion of this interview. With these milestones in her journey of life, Joan asserted that, “if you are planning to get married, this book seeks to better prepare you for this life-time journey.”

The central theme of this book is encapsulated in the many fires, burning in the courtyard of marriages, globally. It offers valuable tools for fighting back to extinguish these fires, as well as to have a successful marriage. Also, survival of the institution as God intended to. Other themes include the definition, purpose, do’s and don’ts of marriage.

She continues by saying, “As a human being, I have to be cognizant of the fact that my experiences should make me better and not bitter.” “On this premise, I guarded my heart against bitterness and wrote as I was inspired.” “By no stretch of imagination was this one of the easiest things to do, but I was supernaturally enabled to produce this book,” says Joan.

“I pride myself in having very high standards for excellence, quality, perfection, and an inclination to be successful in whatever I do.” “I set deadlines for myself to complete different sections of this book, while writing.” “I ultimately got this book published and released on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Smashwords.” “This book is both in eBook format and printed text,” Joan said. One of Joan’s goals is to have this powerful information in the hands of people whose mindsets need to be shifted and re-adjusted.

“I am grateful to God and to those who were instrumental in helping me to realize this dream. I am also making myself available to speak at Marriage & Women’s Conferences/Seminars, and other gatherings. This book will also be available at these conferences.
