Types of Breast Cancer

This is one of the most common forms of cancer that affects women of all geographical locations, ages, ethnicities, cultures, religions, socio-economic backgrounds. This is a very life-changing experience that entails a journey with different detours.  It is highly physical, emotional, and social (biopsychosocial).  It comes in stages ranging from two (2) to four (4), with four (4) being the last and deadliest stage.

Considerable work is being done in the fight against Breast Cancer and the fight continues to prevent a Breast Cancer diagnosis.  One of the ways how this is being done is through proper information about Breast Cancer and not misinformation.  Also, to dismiss the myth that Breast Cancer is an incurable disease because it is curable with Early Detection.

Early Detection of Breast Cancer Can Save Your Life

Studies have shown that Early Detection of Breast Cancer has saved many lives because, with that, preventative measures can be taken soon enough to prevent the cancer from further growth and even to prevent it from Metastasizing.

There are different mediums through which early detection can occur.  Early detection can be done through self-assessment and when you pay close attention to your Breast Health.  A mammogram is also another method used for breast cancer screening that can result in early detection.  To detect the presence of Breast Cancer, it must be detected early so that there can be proper diagnosis and relevant treatment.

In keeping up with proper Breast Health, doing your annual mammogram is strongly advised.  This is a very healthy practice for developing and maintaining the taking of your annual mammogram.  The age at which Breast Cancers are being discovered is getting younger and younger, so please pay keen attention to your body.  Other methods being used to detect breast cancer are Breast Ultrasound, Biopsy, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Self-Assessment

It is highly important that conducting your Self-assessment, which could be the most frequent method at your disposal, has no side effects and will not cost you anything but only a bit of your time.  This is well worth the time spent to conduct this assessment.  Your life is more worth taking the time out to do this.

While carrying out this assessment there are some important signs and symptoms to be on the lookout for.  Let’s pause for a moment to see what some of these most common ones are.

During your self-examination, pay close attention to whether there are any changes in the texture around the Nipples and or Areola.  Another sign is that there are changes in the color of these two (2) areas.  These areas might even become extremely dry and even busted from this dryness

In the area of your nipples, watch to see if any leakages are coming from your nipples or if they have become retracted, as opposed to protruding as they should. They will go inward or might even become very flat.  You should be so in tune with your body to notice these considerable differences in your Areola and Nipples if they occur.  Nb.  There or other conditions that can cause your nipples to be retracted, e.g. aging, breastfeeding, etc.  You should have an idea of whether you fit into these categories.

However, among those reasons for retracted breast nipples are those of infections and disease.  This decrease could very well be that of Breast Cancer, so if this is your experience you should not be frivolous about it.

Pay keen attention to any lump(s) that you might find while conducting your assessment.  These lumps can potentially be cancerous and could also be a cyst and fibroadenoma.  These lumps can cause you to feel much pain in your breast but might be benign or not cancerous.  The presence of cancer in the breast can cause the skin of the breast to become saggy or puckered.  This is not always the case on every occasionAnother condition to be on the lookout for during self-examination is that your breast(s) become enlarged or swollen with a change in color to that of a reddish look

While carrying out a self-examination for any form of abnormalities in your breast(s) there are certain techniques that you can employ.  For them to be effective, they must be done properly, so speak with your Family Doctor/Primary Care Provider or other Health Professionals.  Remember, any form of abnormalities is a valid reason to seek further consultation.  These should not be taken lightly as this could mean the difference between life and death.
