MEN -- GUARD YOUR MARRIAGE!

TO ALL MEN

Men, you ought to be respectful to your wives. Treat your wife with dignity and be loyal to her. It is also very important that you are conscious of what her needs are and be willing to cater to those needs. There is still a little girl in her that needs to be loved, hugged, and treated gently. Don’t forget to embrace that little girl in her.

Be vigilant and guard your marriage, because the Delilah spirit is still out to get her prey, so Sampson, be careful whose lap you are sleeping in and what secrets you are disclosing. If you are not careful, you will wake up without your strength, vision and a severed relationship with your God and your family.

Brothers, be vigilant because the woman of Samaria is now dead, but her spirit is still roaming the earth. When Jesus asked her for her husband, she rightly said she had none, because she had several and even the one, she was living with was not her own. Adultery is a spirit that has infested marriages from the beginning of time, but now has reached crisis proportions, regrettably even in Christendom. It is like a pandemic, so to ensure that you don’t get contaminated by it, put on the whole armour of God. The purpose of armour is to protect you from dangers during a battle. You are in a war against those sprits that are firing against marriage. You are encouraged to put on this armour in its entirely. The devil knows that when marriages are destroyed, generations to come will be affected. As a soldier you cannot wear the uniform without wearing the necessary gear. Putting on the armour of God involves the following (Ephesians 6:11-18):

Helmet of Salvation

This helmet will help you to focus your mind on God’s will regarding honoring your marriage covenant. It will prevent Satan from having a stronghold on your thoughts. You will not be enticed by pornography and other immoral acts, and neither will you envy your neighbour’s wife. In other words, guard your mind against immoral and illicit acts. Your head is like a CPU in a computer. If the CPU is corrupt and dysfunctional, then the computer cannot function properly. In this case, if you allow your head to become contaminated, then the result will be devastating.

Loins Gird About with Truth

Use the Word of God skillfully. Allow truth to have its full course in your heart, life, and marriage. After you have entered this covenant, be truthful to your spouse and to others, especially strange women. Whenever you encounter a strange woman, don’t conceal the fact that you are married. Please wear this uniform proudly and truthfully. Remember, you are no longer your own. Also, you are in a covenant, so honour it wherever you go, even if this fact is not known to others.

Sword of the Spirit

This is, in fact, the Word of God. As a soldier in combat for your marriage, keep your sword in hand and be ready to fight. You cannot afford to put your sword down until the enemy warring against marriage is destroyed. You should be both offensive and defensive in this case. Marriage is honourable before God, so fight assiduously.

Men, be vigilant and be defensive for your marriage. Remember, you are expected to serve from a position of headship in your marriage. Therefore, guard its gates with fasting and prayer. Take continuous inventory of how well the gates are being guarded to ensure that you are following covenant principles. Also, learn the ways of Jezebel and Delilah, so that you will not be named amongst the statistics of men who have slept in their laps and have lost their hair, eyes, and strength. Don’t sell out the secrets of your covenant and your family to strange women. They are not God’s design for your marriage.

In addition, learn the characteristics of those persons who are destructive to your marriage, so that you can strategically walk among them without getting into illicit relationships with them. You are in covenant with your spouse, who is the only person in this covenant. Don’t walk as fools, but as wise men, and don’t forget to redeem the time in which you are living…. It is evil!

Breastplate of Righteousness

Righteousness will exalt a nation, including your household. Wherever this key component is missing, then reproach will take its place. Let the breastplate of righteousness be worn, always. It is a protective gear for your heart that allows holiness to take its full course. Your heart was given to your spouse in the marriage covenant, not to strange women. Guard it with diligence, because it is out of the heart that the issues of life flow (Proverbs 4:23). Also, keep it pure by paying close attention to what you allow to enter.

You were given only one heart, so it cannot adequately be shared with more than one person. You should have given it to your spouse when you entered marriage.
